Pakistan beat Australia 2-1 in ODI series.

Jason Gillespie said that CA was prioritising BGT over the ODIs.

Pakistan's interim white-ball head coach Jason Gillespie voiced worries about Cricket Australia's priorities for the current home summer. As a former cricket player for Australia, Gillespie was taken aback by the board's lack of promotion of Pakistan's white-ball tour to Australia. He acknowledged that the forthcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy was Cricket Australia's top focus. He noted that there was no excitement for the Pakistan series, even though the official broadcasters for Australia's home season made excellent ads. However, Pakistan defeated Australia 2-1 to win the three-match ODI series.

Gillespie on CA's priority

"To be honest, I pretty much saw no promotion of our one-day series by Cricket Australia, which was a bit of a surprise. It’s pretty obvious that they’re prioritizing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test series against India because I saw no promotion of this series. Fox do a great job promoting but it was pretty clear to us where CA’s priorities lie. That’s their prerogative and their decision, but I just didn’t see any advertising or promotion of this one-day series at all," Gillespie told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Gillespie on beating Australia

After their dismal performance in the ODIs, Gillespie anticipates that the Australian batters will return stronger. The "convincing" victory against the World Champions Australia in the ODI series also thrilled him.

"What we saw in this series is our bowling exposed some flaws in the Australian batting. I’m sure the Australians will look to right some wrongs and improve some things. That’s what good players and good teams do; you learn and adjust and adapt and be ready for the next challenge. It was pleasing not just to beat Australia but to beat them pretty convincingly," he added.

The decision to rest all of the important players for the third and final ODI match against Pakistan was questioned by a number of commentators and former cricket players, including Michael Clarke. In the series decider against Pakistan, none of the players who are most likely to be in the starting lineup against India in the first Test played.

Clarke expressed worry that Australia was indifferent to losing an ODI series to Pakistan at home. On Australian soil, Pakistan won their first ODI series in twenty-two years. For the third and final ODI match against Pakistan, Australia's skipper Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood were rested.
