Virat Kohli will be one of the key players in BGT.

Jasprit Bumrah will captain India in Perth Test.

Australia received a warning from India captain Jasprit Bumrah, who stated that Virat Kohli is preparing well for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and that the star batter appeared in great shape during the warm-up. As the team's acting captain, Bumrah spoke confidently at the press conference on the eve of the first Test.

Jasprit Bumrah emphasized Virat Kohli's influence in Australia while downplaying worries over his recent performance. When he first toured Australia, the fast bowler, who will only captain India twice in his career, remembers playing under Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli's form has been a talking topic going to Australia. He only scored 93 runs in three Test matches against New Zealand throughout the series, which ended in an unexpected 0–3 home loss for India.

"I don't have to say anything about Virat Kohli, the batter. He is one of the greats of the game. I don't need to give him any special input. He is the utmost professional. He is one of the leaders. I made my debut under him. He knows what he is doing. Okay, one or two series, here and there, can up and down," Jasprit Bumrah said in the pre-match press conference

"But, the confidence he has at this moment, I have no doubts about how he has prepared. He is looking to contribute. The signs are ominous, I don't want to jinx it by saying anything else, but he is looking in very good shape," he added.

Despite his poor Test run in 2024, Virat Kohli will try to draw strength from his previous triumph in Australia. At an average of 54, Kohli amassed six hundreds in 13 Test matches. Earlier this year, Kohli appeared assured in comparable fast-paced and buoyant surroundings in South Africa.

Since his arrival in Perth, the batting sensation has been the centre of attention. Kohli's fame and accomplishments were highlighted on the front page of a special issue of a collection of Australian newspapers. While praising Kohli profusely, former Australian cricket players cautioned against making fun of the former skipper. India will be missing skipper Rohit Sharma and No. 3 star Shubman Gill for the Perth Test, so Kohli will need to step up and perform.
