India beat Australia by a massive margin of 295 runs at Optus Stadium, Perth to reclaim the top spot on the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 table. Under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah, India stayed on track to qualify for their third consecutive WTC final. This is India's ninth win in 15 Tests in the current WTC cycle.
Jasprit Bumrah-led India became the first team to beat Australia at Perth Stadium. This is India's biggest win against Australia in Australia (excluding win by an innings). The previous best was by 222 runs in Melbourne in 1977.
This is India's ninth win in 15 Tests in the current WTC cycle. India need to win three of their remaining four Tests in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 to get a direct qualification into the final. Otherwise, India will have to depend on results of other games for their final spot.
Meanwhile, Australia have a total of six Tests to play in the current WTC cycle. The defending champions will play a two-Test series in Sri Lanka next year.

Australia's second spot in danger in Adelaide
