Ahead of the three-match ODI series against India, Bangladesh continues to lose key players to injury. The latest entrant on the injury list is the country's ODI captain Tamim Iqbal, who will miss all three white-ball games against India after suffering a groin injury during practice. "He is definitely ruled out of the ODI series and possibly the first Test against India," BCB chief selector Minhajul told AFP. The Bangladesh Cricket Board is yet to announce Tamim's replacement and stand-in captain.
The development comes a few hours after right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed was ruled out of the first ODI due to back pain.
Taskin is ruled out from the opening game of the ODIs as his back pain recurred. We will be seeing his progress before taking further decision regarding his participation," Minhajul told Cricbuzz.
Iqbal has a decent record against India in ODIs with 596 runs from 18 innings at an average of 33.11 including seven half-centuries. On the other hand, Taskin has 12 wickets from just six ODIs at an average of 17.16 including best bowling figures of 5/28.
