India have dealt with a major blow as their regular skipper Rohit Sharma has been officially ruled out of the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh which is set to start from December 14. In the absence of Rohit, who suffered a thumb injury during the second ODI against Bangladesh, KL Rahul will be seen leading the India squad.
Meanwhile, Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named as Rohit's replacement. In another jolt, India's star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja including Mohammed Shami has also been ruled out of the Test outing as Navdeep Saini and Saurabh Kumar will replace them in the India's squad. Also, pacer Jaydev Unadkat has been to India’s squad for the Test series.

The BCCI Medical Team will take a call on his availability for the second and final Test at a later stage. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Abhimanyu Easwaran as his replacement for the first Test. Fast bowler Mohd. Shami and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are yet to fully recover from their respective shoulder and knee injuries and are ruled out of the Test series.
