Former Indian cricketers Virender Sehwag and Venkatesh Prasad have lambasted India's 'outdated' approach after the loss in the second ODI leading to a series loss in Bangladesh. Putting forth his ire over India's woeful run in the white ball cricket, former pacer Prasad insisted the Indian think tack on making 'tough calls' while Sehwag advised Rohit Sharma and his boys to 'wake up'.
Sehwag is known for his wit and remarked in a witty way to put his disappointment into words. He said, "Cryptos se bhi tez gir rahi hai apni performance yaar (Our performance is falling faster than cryptos). Need to shake up - wake up."
India prior to the Bangladesh series lost the ODI series 0-1 to New Zeeland in rain-affected encounters. Playing incessant cricket, the illustrious Indian batters looked out of sorts with an underwhelming performance not least the death bowling department which reared its head again in the second ODI.
The fact that India have failed to win any ICC title since the 2013 Champions Trophy was once again mentioned by Prasad.
"India is innovating in so many fields across the world. But when it comes to playing Limited overs cricket, our approach is a decade old," Prasad wrote in a series of tweets.
"England after the 2015 WC first round exit took tough calls and turned around to become such an exciting team, India need to take tough calls...
"And change approach drastically. We haven’t won a T20 WC since the IPL started & last 5 years have been poor in ODI’s apart from winning inconsequential bilateral.
"Haven’t learned from our mistakes for too long and far from being an exciting team in limited overs cricket. CHANGE," he added.
India will now look to scalp a conciliatory win in the third ODI against Bangladesh, having lost the series. Rohit Sharma after sustaining an injury in his index finger in the slips is now in doubt to play the Test series commencing on December 14, Wednesday.
