Team India captain Rohit Sharma, who suffered an agonising thumb injury in an ODI game against Bangladesh earlier in the month, has been ruled out of the second and final Test against the Bangla Tigers. According to a report in Cricbuzz, the 35-year-old will no longer fly to Bangladesh in order to make himself available for the final game of India's tour of Bangladesh.
It is being reported that Rohit's thumb injury is yet to heal completely as the right-handed batter continues to endure slight stiffness in his thumb. With India scheduled to play several crunch series in the near future, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doesn't want to take any chances when it comes to senior men's national team captain's fitness.
Having said that, the 35-year-old leader is expected to recover from his injury completely before the series against Sri Lanka, scheduled to begin on January 03 (Monday).
Rohit missed the third ODI and the first Test match versus Bangladesh after he injured his thumb during the second ODI. Rohit flew back to Mumbai in order to consult a specialist for his injury and in his absence, KL Rahul led India. Earlier it was reported that the Indian skipper might travel to Bangladesh and join the side ahead of the second Test against Bangladesh, scheduled to start on December 22.
