Team India captain Rohit Sharma missed the third ODI and the first Test match versus Bangladesh after he injured his thumb during the second ODI. Rohit flew back to Mumbai in order to consult a specialist for his injury and in his absence, KL Rahul led India. The Indian skipper is now slated to reach Bangladesh and will likely be available for selection for the second Test against Bangladesh, scheduled to start on December 22.
Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja came up with an explosive reply when quizzed about who should make way for Rohit Sharma in the second Test. The cricketer-turned-commentator reckons that the Indian skipper should stay back in India and nurse his injury at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
"Tabhi toh bol raha hu Rohit ko bolo ghar me baithne keliye (That is why I suggest Rohit should stay at home). When a player suffers a hand fracture and you cannot hold the bat for about 10 days, even if you recover, you cannot really join the team the very next day. It takes another 1- to 15 days. And we don't even know the extent of the injury yet. That is why I suggest this. We are looking for a temporary solution and this is the best solution for it," Jadeja said during a conversation with Sony Sports.
In case Rohit is available for selection then Shubman Gill is likely to make way for the captain, which will be extremely harsh on the young Indian batter as he scored a fantastic maiden century in the second innings of the first Test match.
