Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s squad for upcoming limited-overs series against England starting on July 7 with the T20I series. Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja have been rested for the first T20I. They have been included in the T20I squad for the remaining two T20Is to be played on July 9 and July 10.
Mohammed Shami has not been included in the T20I squad. Earlier, there were reports that Shami is not in scheme of things for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. KL Rahul, who is recovering from groin injury, has not been included in both squads. Kuldeep Yadav is missing from the squad as well. The left-arm Chinaman bowler is currently recovering at National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru.
In the T20I squads, the players who were part of Ireland tour have been retained. Under Hardik Pandya's leadership, India beat the Irish by 2-0 despite a thriller of a high-scoring affair at the Village, Dublin. In the first of the three T20I series, there can be a few experiments in the lineup with four big players being rested after the completion of rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has received his maiden call-up in the ODI squad. Arshdeep is yet to make his international debut. The southpaw warmed the benches in Ireland as pace sensation Umran Malik was given preference. The ODI series will begin on July 12 against newly appointed captain Jos Buttler's side.
