'Sad to lose my record today': Robin Peterson reacts to Stuart Broad's 35-run over

India's stand-in Test skipper and prime pacer Jasprit Bumrah is known for his wizardry with the ball, but on Day 2 of the fifth Test against England he did something unthinkable with the ball by scripting a world record in the longest format of the game on Saturday.

Bumrah clobbered England's Stuart Broad left, right and centre as the England pacer conceded 35 run in an over, which is the most expensive over in the Test history. The 35-run over must have evoke Stuart Broad's 2007 T20 World Cup, when India's star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh hit Broad for six sixes in an over. Bumrah belted 29 off those 35 runs in Broad's over in which four boundaries and two sixes were hit which also had six extra runs, five wides and a no-ball.

Meanwhile, former South African spinner Robin Peterson reacted after Broad broke his most expensive over in Test cricket record.
Now Peterson has joked about his record being broken and hilariously said that he is sad to lose his record to Broad.

“Sad to lose my record today, oh well, records are made to be broken I guess. Onto the next one,” Peterson tweeted. He also replied to one comment that it took only 19 years to break this record. “Only took 19 years Cricket is a patience game I’m told” he added.

Most runs off an over in Test cricket

35 runs - Jasprit Bumrah off Stuart Broad, Birmingham 2022
28 runs - Brian Lara off Robin Peterson, Johannesburg 2003
28 runs - George Bailey off James Anderson, Perth 2013
28 runs - Keshav Maharaj off Joe Root, Port Elizabeth 2020

Later, Bumrah was dismissed after scoring 31 off 16 which was loaded with four boundaries and two maximums.

Taking about the match, riding on Rishabh Pant (146) and Ravindra Jadeja's (104) stunning centuries, India posted a huge total of 416 before England on Day 2.

Jasprit Bumrah then dismissed Alex Lees cheaply and at lunch on Day 2. As of 25.3 overs, England are teetering on 83/5 as Jasprit snared three scalps while Mohammad Shami picked one.

In the ongoing Test, England had won the toss and Ben Stokes opted to bowl. India are currently leading the five-match Test series 2-1.
