England Cricket Board (ECB) on July 28 announced their 15-member squad for the fifth and final Test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Pace-bowling all-rounder Jamie Overton has been added to the squad.
It is understood that Overton has been added as cover for captain Ben Stokes who struggled with his hamstring during the Manchester Test which ended in a draw.
Overton was part of England's squad for first three Tests but did not get a place in the playing XI. If Stokes is fit, there is a possibility that Overton may replace Chris Woakes or Brydon Carse.
Gus Atkinson is waiting in the wings as well. In the fourth Test, Carse was not at his best on a pitch that favoured batters. He remained wicketless after bowling 38 overs.
