The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced their 15-member England's U-19 squad that will compete in the upcoming series India U-19. The series will feature five youth ODIs and two multi-day matches starting from June 27.
Leading the England U19 team as captain is Thomas Rew, who is the younger brother of James Rew, the current captain of England A. Within the announced squad, Isaac Mohammed is the only player who has not yet received a senior cap. Notably, Rocky Flintoff, the son of Andrew Flintoff, who serves as the head coach for the England Lions, continues to be a part of the team.
The England U19 team and the India U19 team are scheduled to participate in a series consisting of five one-day matches and two four-day matches. This series will take place between June 27 and July 23. This timing indicates that the India U19 team, led by Ayush Mhatre, will be in England concurrently with the senior Indian cricket team and the Indian women's cricket team, who will also be present in the country during this period.
“We’ve selected an exciting squad for the ODI series. We have players who have a variety of white-ball skills and predominantly available for the ICC Under-19 World Cup in the winter. India Under-19s will provide a great challenge this summer and it’s a great opportunity for the boys to perform as a team and individually,” England’s U19 head coach Mike Yardy said.
