Former India head coach Ravi Shastri lauded England for their commendable bowling performance in the third Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 at iconic Lord's Stadium in London. After being bundled out on just 192 runs in the second innings, the hosts shifted the momentum of the game by picking quick wickets. England picked up India's four wickets before the end of Day 4.
Shastri also mentioned England skipper Ben Stokes' last over on Day 4 where he picked up Akash Deep's wicket before the end of the day.
"England, superb you we said yesterday from england's point of view it worked the best that stokes got the wicket with three balls left of two balls left means he didn't have to think about whether to start willing this morning or not he had to go and then once he bought that spell was important right combination pace at one end and then you know stokes at the other end of it nothing away so it was uh double whammy as far as england with the sun" said Shastri.
After picking up four wickets on Day 4, England's dominating bowling started again on the last day of the Lord's Test as they picked up Rishabh Pant (9 off 12 balls), KL Rahul (39 off 58) , and Washington Sundar (0 off 4) wickets in the first hour of the day. After Sundar's wicket, Nitish Kumar Reddy joined Ravindra Jadeja for the chase, and both batters were looking steady before Jofra Archer removed the Hyderabad fast-bowling all-rounder just before lunch.
Shastri, who is doing commentary duties in the ongoing Test, said that Jadeja and Nitish Reddy made a tactical error by not counterattacking the opposition.
"When you look at the tail, I just thought tactically they might have got it a little wrong. You know, once they had spent a little time at the crease, the partnership was say 15 to 20. One guy should have gone to attack. You know, there's a ready or Jadeja should have looked to attack and just try and put the pressure back on England. Try and bring down that deficit to about 60 and then take it, you know, 10 runs at a time" added Shastri.
While writing this copy, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah are looking the fight the storm. India need 68-runs to win the clash.
