Tensions flared up at Lord's yet again on the final day of the third Test match between India and England, this time Ravindra Jadeja and Brydon Carse were the centre of attraction. Following the quick dismissals of Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Washington Sundar, the English team sensed an opportunity to secure victory. With India having only two wickets remaining, England adopted an extremely aggressive approach. Their bowlers, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, and Brydon Carse gave the Indian batters Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravindra Jadeja a mouthful. The situation escalated further when Jadeja and Brydon Carse collided while Jadeja was taking a run, leading to a heated verbal exchange between the two players.
The incident occurred on the last ball of the 35th over when the players came into contact during Jadeja's attempt to complete a single. It appeared that Carse may have intentionally held Jadeja by the neck. After finishing the run, Jadeja reacted angrily towards Carse, who responded in kind, prompting Ben Stokes to step in and try to de-escalate the situation.

On the field, India found themselves in a difficult position as they reached lunch on the fifth day with the score at 112/8. Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Reddy managed to withstand some excellent bowling from the English pace attack. However, just before the lunch break, Chris Woakes dismissed Reddy, putting England firmly in control of the match. At the interval, Jadeja was batting on 17, while Jasprit Bumrah was unscathed on the crease at naught, leaving India needing another 81 runs for victory. Earlier in the day, Jofra Archer had picked up the crucial wickets of Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar, while Ben Stokes had dismissed KL Rahul before Woakes got the better of Nitish Reddy at 13.
