Team India cricketers, who were gearing up to compete in the 3rd T20I against Ireland, gathered together to watch the historic landing of Chandrayaan-3 on a lunar south pole on August 23 (Wednesday). In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on X (formerly known as Twitter), all the players and coaching staff watched history unfold with pride brimming on their faces.

The hearts of over a billion Indians swelled with pride on Wednesday after the Vikram lander of Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the moon's lunar south pole. India became the first country to secure this unprecedented achievement and the moment came to fruition only because of the great minds working at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
People from all walks of life took to social media to celebrate the historic day and laud the efforts of the great scientists. Indian cricketers and former players also joined the bandwagon and shared heartfelt messages on X (formerly known as Twitter).
India captain Rohit Sharma, ex-skipper Virat Kohli, legendary figure Sachin Tendulkar and former women's team captain Mithali Raj were among the long list athletes who penned a special message.
"The 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 to reach the lunar south pole. That's got a nice ring to it. A proud moment for each one of us & a big congratulations to @isro for all their efforts," Rohit wrote.
"Many congratulations to the #Chandrayaan3 team. You have made the nation proud. Jai Hind!" Kohli wrote.
