'Rinku Singh can become a great finisher like MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh': Ex-India batter lavishes profound praise on KKR star

Former India wicket-keeper batter, Kiran More lauded Team India's new debutant Rinku Singh and exuded confidence in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) explosive batter to become a solid finisher for the Men in Blue. More reckons that Rinku has the skillset to finish matches like how MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh once used to do for India.

"I have been waiting for his opportunity in the Indian team. And that batting position, of No.5 and 6, he will perform well in that spot and can end up being a brilliant finisher. We all have seen MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. After that we haven’t got a player like them,” Kiran More said on Jio Cinema.

"We tried making such players, but it didn’t work so far. Tilak Varma is also there, he too can perform that role. Rinku is also a brilliant fielder. And I have seen him in domestic cricket as well, he has improved a lot I feel," he added.

Rinku received his maiden India cap on August 18 (Friday) when India competed against Ireland in the first T20I at The Village in Dublin. In a rain-affected match, Rinku didn't get a chance to display his stroke-making skills on the big stage but moving forward, the left-handed batter is bound to get an opportunity to entertain the fans and win matches for the country.

Rinku became a household and a fan-favourite when he smacked five consecutive sixes in the last over of an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and rolled out KKR's path to an improbable victory.

In a season to remember, Rinku scored 474 runs in 14 matches at a stupendous strike rate of 149.53 and an average of 59.25. The southpaw registered four half-centuries while remained not out six times during the campaign. In run chases, Rinku's performance was even more extraordinary and he cemented his name in the list of chase masters in IPL.
