Big Blow to India as star player pulls out of Test series against South Africa due to this reason, replacement announced

Ishan Kishan cited personal reason and pulled out of Test series against South Africa.

KS Bharat has been named as Kishan's replacement for the two-match Test series against Proteas.

India's star wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has withdrawn his name from Men in Blue's squad for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. Apparently Kishan requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to be released from Test series versus South Africa citing personal reasons. Post his request he has been officially removed from the India's Test squad. Notably, India and South Africa are slated to play two-match Test series which is set to played from December 26.

“Ishan Kishan has requested the BCCI to be released from the upcoming Test series against South Africa citing personal reasons. The wicket-keeper has subsequently been withdrawn from the Test squad,” the Board said in a statement.

 

Meanwhile, KS Bharat has been named as Kishan's replacement for the two-match Test series against South Africa.

After the conclusion of three-match ODI series, India are slated to participate in a two-Test series, with the first Test taking place from December 26 to 30, followed by the second Test scheduled for January 3 to 7, 2024. The opening Test will be hosted at SuperSport Park in Centurion, while the second Test will be held at Newlands.
