Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer gave a befitting reply to ex-England captain Michael Vaughan after India suffered a seven-wicket defeat in the third Test against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town. Vaughan took to Twitter to mock Jaffer over India’s 2-1 defeat in the rainbow nation but got a silencing reply from him.

"Haha all good Michael, don’t forget we are still leading you 2-1," Jaffer wrote in his reply to Vaughan.

Vaughan earlier tweeted, "Evening @WasimJaffer14!! Just checking you are ok".

In reply, Jaffer reminded Vaughan that India are still ahead of England in the five-match Test series, the fifth and final match of which was suspended due to COVID-19 concerns.

Earlier, Vaughan had also questioned India captain Virat Kohli's antics on the field. The DRS decision involving South Africa skipper Dean Elgar had left the Indian team furious. While Elgar remained not-out, the likes of Kohli, R. Ashwin and KL Rahul accused the hosts' broadcaster SuperSport of allegedly  tampering with the visuals.

“It’s so important that the ICC steps in because you can’t have all that. Whether you’re frustrated or not… of course, we’ve all had moments on the pitch where you’re thinking something is going to get you. And it’s absolutely right to get frustrated. But when you act like that as a captain and a leader of our game, the ICC have to step in. He needs to be fined, he needs to be suspended,“ Vaughan had said.

Coming back to the series between India and South Africa, the Men in Blue went down in the final Test match followed  by a second match draw despite registering an early lead in the bilateral clash.

In the third Test, India scored 223 runs in the first innings riding on a brilliant knock from skipper Kohli. Then India restricted South Africa for 210 runs, going into the second innings with a lead of 13 runs. India suffered yet another batting collapse in the second innings as the side was bundled out for 198 runs. The fourth and final innings saw South Africa chase down a low target of 212 runs with ease. Rassie van der Dussen and Temba Bavuma finished the chase for the home side as they remained unbeaten at the scores of 41 and 32 runs, respectively. keegan Peterson top scored with 82 runs.

India won the first Test match in Centurion by a massive margin but couldn't replicate the results in the next two games.
