After the brilliant batting on the first day on South African soil, the first session of the third day’s play was not much special for team India. Seven batsmen went back to the pavilion after scoring just 49 runs. Team India got out after scoring 327 runs in the first innings.
In response, the Indian bowlers started wreaking havoc. In the very first over of the innings, pacer Jasprit Bumrah sent South African captain Dean Elgar back to the pavilion and managed to boost up the rest of the bowlers of team India.
After this, as soon as Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj, who was included in the team, took the first wicket of his career on South African soil, he celebrated in a pretty famous way.
Premier League's reaction
The celebration might not have been very common during cricket matches but football fans and followers did not take too long to identify the style. Spectators seeing this celebration, straightaway recalled Portugal and Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo. Siraj brought out the famous “SIIIUUUU” celebrations after dismissing South Africa batsman Rassie van der Dussen for just 3 runs.
Fans did not waste much time and started sharing pictures of Siraj's celebration on social media.
Even the Premier League shared the photos of Siraj on Twitter, saying, “"The SIIIUUUU celebration has reached the @BCCI camp in South Africa,"
Siraj mimics Ronaldo
After bowling in England and Australia, Mohammad Siraj was bowling in South Africa for the first time. While bowling his 13th over of the innings, the 27-year-old pacer dismissed Rasi van der Dussen and after this his memorable celebration took place.
Siraj opened the bowling for India with Jasprit Bumrah ahead of Mohammed Shami in the innings and the Hyderabad-born player picked up 1/45 in 15.1 over. The extra ball he bowled was to complete Jasprit Bumrah’s over after the fast bowler was injured by rolling his ankle and was forced off the ground.
After Bumrah and Mohammed Shami had accounted for the first three wickets, reducing South Africa to 30/3, Siraj joined in, getting van der Dussen out caught at second slip where Ajinkya Rahane took the catch.
