India's Test skipper Rohit Sharma handed debut caps to youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan, as the side took the field for the first Test of the two-Test match series against West Indies in Roseau, Dominica on July 12.
Jaiswal, a part of the reserves during the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia in June, has a remarkable record in First-Class (FC) cricket. The youngster has scored 1,845 runs in 15 matches at a spectacular average of 80.21, including nine hundreds and two half-centuries.
By making his debut, the 21-year-old has etched his name on another official list. He has gone above Sachin Tendulkar with his First Class performances. He has a better average than Sachin while making his Test debut!
The domestic hero from Mumbai
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who plays domestic cricket for Mumbai, also made a colossal impact with the bat in the 2023 Indian Premier League. Playing for Rajasthan Royals, Jaiswal scored 625 runs in 14 matches and ended the tournament as the fifth-highest run-scorer.
