In a bizarre series of events, the second T20I between India and West Indies at St Kitts has been delayed by three hours (11 PM IST). The reason for delay is not rain, wet outfield or a technical glitch. Apparently, the team luggage has not arrived. Earlier, Cricket West Indies (CWI) delayed the game by two hours but it was later extended by an hour. Both the teams did not arrive at the stadium until 10 PM IST.
“Due to circumstances beyond CWI’s control, there have been significant delays in crucial team luggage arriving into St Kitts from Trinidad. As a result, today’s match 2nd Goldmedal T20 Cup match is due to start at 12:30 pm (11:30am Jamaica/10pm India). CWI regrets any inconvenience caused to our valued fans, sponsors, broadcast partners and all other stakeholders,” CWI had said in a statement released on Twitter.
India are currently leading the five-T20I series. Rohit Sharma-led India won the first T20I convincingly by 68 runs. If India win the second T20I, they will surpass Pakistan on the list of most T20I wins against the Caribbean side.
