India come into their series against the West Indies in good form, having beaten England 2-1 in the ODI and T20I series' respectively. The Men in Blue will now play three ODIs and five T20I matches as both teams begin their preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup taking place in Australia in October 2022.

In a boost to the side, two key players KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav will undergo a preliminary fitness test on Sunday ahead of India's T20I series against West Indies, according to information revealed to Sports Tak. The final test will be done 48 hours after their preliminary test. Following the results of these tests, both players will be available for the T20I series.

Both Kuldeep and KL Rahul have been away from the cricket field for almost a month and a half. The duo injured themselves prior to India's series against South Africa, and KL Rahul even had to go to Germany to undergo surgery for his injury. Before flying to the Caribbeans, both Rahul and Kuldeep were undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

The return of both these players will be a massive boost for India, with the duo having been called up for the five-match T20I series. But, as mentioned by the BCCI while announcing the squads, both the player's inclusion in the playing XI will be subject to the fitness of the two players.

The Men in Blue will take on West Indies in the first ODI on Friday, July 22 in the Port of Spain, Trinidad. The senior members of the team — Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah — have all been rested for the series. Meanwhile, India will be led by Shikhar Dhawan in the ODI series.

While Rohit Sharma has been rested for just the ODI series and not the T20Is, Kohli is set to rest for both the white-ball campaigns.
