India's young batter Abhishek Sharma who smashed a maiden century in the second match of his debut in the recently concluded India vs Zimbabwe 2nd T20I said that he is not satisfied with his bowling in the series. He thanked Shubman Gill and his coaches for trusting his bowling after the first two games in the series.
Gill-led India defeated Zimbabwe by 4-1 in the five-match T20I series and with this India became the first team in 112 years the history of T20I cricket who won four consecutive matches after losing the first match of the bilateral series.
"Special mention to Shubman and coaches for trusting in my bowling after the first two games, I did not bowl well also, I'm working hard on my bowling and it's good to have the backing from the management" said Abhishek after India defeated Zimbabwe by 42 runs in the fifth T20I.
Abhishek also revealed that he had a conversation with Riyan Parag about India debut during the last season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
“Last few games it was pretty good for bowling and as Riyan said after the 1st game we all woke up. Positive was the next match was next day so we did not think have time to think too much. We were talking about this in the IPL, if we get our caps it will be a dream come true. We never thought we will debut together. We spoke about it long back and it happened” added Abhishek.
The young batter also congratulated his mentor Yuvraj Singh who recently defeated Pakistan Champions in the World Champions League tournament's final by five wickets at Edgbaston, Birmingham on July 13 where Ambati Rayudu was awarded Player of the Match and Yusuf Pathan was awarded as Player of the Series.
“We all saw and it is always special when you play Pakistan and even more so when it's a final, congrats to my mentor” concluded Abhishek.
