CARRA: The first T20I between Indian women and Australia Women has been abandoned due to rain. Harmanpreet Kaur-led India were put to bat first by the hosts and were on their way to set a big target before rain played spoilsport. The visitors scored 131 runs for the loss of four wickets in 15.2 overs and were looking to accelerate even further in the death overs but the rain gods had other plans. The heavy rainfall ensured that the match couldn’t be continued further.
Jemimah Rodrigues, playing her first match of the tournament, was batting at 49 and missed out on her seventh T20I half-century.
With the first T20I being washed out, the series is left with two more T20Is to play. The next two T20Is will be played on October 9 and October 10 at the same venue. Both the teams will be hoping for clear skies for the next two games of the multi-format series.
