Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) troubles have continued in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as their overseas players are yet to justify their price tag. However, former RCB skipper Virat Kohli has been in sublime form with 203 runs from four games. Kohli has been in agile in the field too returning to competitive cricket after a couple of months. However, out-of-form Glenn Maxwell doesn’t want Kohli to ‘bounce around’ as he is unable to keep up with him.
“He is like a kid in the field. It is so funny watching him bounce around. I have to sort of remind him to act his age every now and then because he is making me look bad as we are from the same age group. It's not going well if I am telling you that (laughs)," Maxwell said while speaking on ESPN's Around the Wicket.
Maxwell also said that Kohli has been in high spirits despite RCB's three losses from four games and is happy to be around his teammates.
“He has been brilliant coming back into the group and you can see him bounce around. He is pretty excited to be around the RCB boys and just be around the guys, playing well again, running around the field," the 35-year-old added.
Maxwell fails to perform with bat
While Kohli has the Orange Cap, the Australian big-hitter has struggled for form in the current season. He started with a duck against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 opener. In the second game against Punjab Kings (PBKS), he fell for a single-digit score in the run chase. However, he contributed with a couple of wickets. He contributed with a 28-run cameo against Kolkata Knight Riders but was dismissed for a duck by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pace sensation Mayank Yadav. He has taken four wickets in the season so far.
RCB are placed eighth on the points table. Maxwell will have a chance to shrugg off bad form against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their away clash on April 6.
