The Gujarat Titans, who clinched the IPL championship in 2022, enter the upcoming IPL auction with the most substantial remaining budget, following the trade of their captain, Hardik Pandya, to the Mumbai Indians.
With Shubman Gill set to assume the captaincy, the previous season's runners-up will benefit from the guidance of the seasoned Kane Williamson to mentor the comparatively less experienced leader. However, the team still needs to find a suitable replacement to fill the void left by Pandya's departure.
Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans' adopted underperforming Umesh Yadav for Rs 5.80 crore in the IPL 2024 auction. Notably, Umesh snared mere one wicket in eight games in the last edition of the IPL. Moreover, Titans also bought Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai for his base price of Rs 50 lakh. But what caught everyone's attention was Shahrukh Khan's acquisition. Shahrukh, who played for Punjab Kings in the last edition of the IPL, fetched Rs 7.40 crore from IPL 2022 winners.
