Team India captain and former Mumbai Indians skipper, Rohit Sharma is one of the most beloved cricketers going around. Be it Rohit's witty remarks on the field and during press conferences, or his down-to-earth personality, the Hitman has carved his niche in cricket's history and will go down as one of the best batters of all time, especially in white-ball cricket. Throughout his career, Rohit has seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, and he always managed to be on an even keel, not getting too high or too low.
Brian Lara pays tribute to Rohit Sharma
Former West Indies captain and legendary batter, Brian Lara lavished profound praise on Rohit Sharma and called him a true leader. Lara shed light on how the Hitman has overcome adversities in life to attain the stature that he holds today.
"When you look at Rohit Sharma, you feel that he connects to the public very well. He had a tough upbringing, he came out and pretty much spent his entire life playing for India; sometimes, not getting the nod from selectors and having to work his way back. When you have an image and stature of Rohit Sharma, sometimes, some people don't take the knock down really well. But what's admirable with him is his ability to put everything aside, and put India first, and put Mumbai Indians first, and play cricket the way it should be," Lara said on Star Sports.
"He's not a sulker, which is great. He is a leader, it doesn't matter if you are captain or not. At some point of time, when you get to a certain age or level, you are a leader. I think he represents that role really well," he added.
Meanwhile, Rohit is having a stellar 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Playing as a pure batter, Rohit has looked in ominous touch, scoring 261 runs in 6 matches at a strike rate of 167.31. Hitman has also scored a century in the ongoing season so far.
