New Zealand's star batter Devon Conway has joined Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk Stadium ahead of their big clash against Lucknow Super Giants, on April 23 (Tuesday). Conway was ruled out of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to a thumb injury. He has joined the CSK camp to undergo rehabilitation after his surgery and practice ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
Conway joins CSK camp
Chennai Super Kings posted a picture of Conway from their official ‘X’ account formerly known as Twitter. The picture shows the CSK batter sitting at the Chepauk Stadium during CSK practice. However, he won't be a part of the CSK campaign in the tournament. His fellow New Zealand player, Rachin Ravindra has been opening for the team in his absence.
Recently, Chennai also roped in England pacer Richard Gleeson as Conway's replacement. There's a chance that Gleeson might get an opportunity in the clash against Lucknow Super Giants.
Gleeson replaces Conway
A few days back, IPL released an official statement that CSK has brought in England's Richard Gleeson as Conway's replacement for his base price of 50 lakh INR.
“Devon Conway has been ruled out of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to an injury. Conway, who represented Chennai Super Kings (CSK) over the course of the last two IPL seasons, played 23 matches and scored 924 runs, which included 9 half-centuries and a highest score of 92*. CSK have added Richard Gleeson to the squad for the remainder of the TATA IPL 2024. Gleeson has represented England in 6 T20Is and has 9 wickets against his name. Additionally, Gleeson has played 90 T20s and picked 101 T20 wickets. He will join CSK for his reserve price of INR 50 Lac,” read IPL's official statement.
