Mayank speaks about getting chance in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Mayank's astonishing run in IPL 2024

Rising young Mayank Yadav has taken the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League by storm with his lethal pace. Currently, he is one of the biggest talking points in Indian cricket. Mayank received the ‘Player of the Match’ in his first two games and is in the third spot in the purple cap race with six wickets from just two matches. The speedster revealed how Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul has backed him and helped him to work on his strengths.

In an exclusive conversation with Sports Tak, Mayank Yadav talked about how much KL Rahul has never asked him to do too much experience and instead told him to work on his strengths and try to make them perfect.

“I think from the first year, Rahul bhaiya never told me to try something new or to develop new skills. He said that you should bowl on your strength. One thing that is important to me and I think is positive is the length ball that I can hit the same length with that same pace. So he said that focus on these two things and work on these two things and whenever I get the chance do this only and don't try to do something extra,” Mayank told Sports Tak.

Mayank Impresses The Cricket Fraternity

The young pacer has made a lot of noise with his performance in IPL 2024 and has impressed the likes of Stuart Broad, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Faf du Plessis, and Brett Lee. Many even talked about fast-tracking the young pacer to the national side and including him in the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. However, Mayank is only thinking as far as the next match and is only focused on his performance. The pacer is not taking any unnecessary pressure to join the World Cup squad quickly.

“I haven't made any comments about that (going to the T20 World Cup). But the performance is good, but I'm happy about that. And most of the focus is on upcoming matches. So far whatever I have done, I have got the result in the last two matches that I am backing my natural skill so I think I will stay on that only. And the main important thing is tha teams know what ball I put in. So it depends on me how well I use match situations and how well I try to put in the ball,” said Mayank on Sports Tak.

Mayank’s lethal run so far

Mayank has picked up six wickets in just two matches. He picked up three wickets by only giving 14 runs in his four-over spell against LSG. The 21-year-old is third in the race of the purple cap, behind Gujarat Titans' (GT) Mohit Sharma and Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) Mustafizur Rahman. Both of them have 7 wickets currently.
