Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has entered the Purple Cap race, taking a three-wicket haul and conceding 30 runs in three overs against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 5, positioning him in third place. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings' (PBKS) left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh captured a couple of wickets against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on the same day, placing him fifth in the standings.

In the same match, Harshal Patel of PBKS also took three wickets, giving up only 24 runs in his allotted overs. He now ties with Jasprit Bumrah for first place based on the number of wickets, but trails in economy rate.

Mumbai Indians’ (MI) star pacer Jasprit Bumrah remains at the top due to his superior economy rate of 6.25. In his last match against KKR on May 3, Bumrah took three wickets while conceding only 18 runs in 3.5 overs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) bowler T Natarajan has moved to the fourth spot after taking two wickets in their recent match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 2.

Jasprit Bumrah (MI)

Jasprit Bumrah continues to be a formidable force this season, claiming 17 wickets in eleven matches with an exceptional economy of 6.25. His highlights include a five-wicket haul.

Harshal Patel (PBKS)

Matching Bumrah with 17 wickets, Harshal Patel has been a key wicket-taker for PBKS this season, albeit with a higher economy rate of 9.78. He previously won the purple cap in 2021 with 32 wickets in 15 matches.

Varun Chakravarthy (KKR)

KKR’s mystery spinner has impressed this season, securing 16 wickets in eleven matches with a commendable economy of 8.75.

T Natarajan (SRH)

SRH’s left-arm pacer has been pivotal, especially in the death overs, taking 15 wickets in just eight matches at an economy rate of 8.96.

Arshdeep Singh (PBKS)

After a slow start to the season, Arshdeep Singh is finding his rhythm, having taken 15 wickets in eleven matches, though his economy rate is on the higher side at 10.06.
