Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) as Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first in IPL 2024 Qualifier 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 24. While RR won their last match against RCB in the IPL 2024 Eliminator, SRH suffered defeat against KKR in their previous encounter in Qualifier 1.
As far as playing XIs of both the teams are concerned, RR kept the same team, while SRH brought back Jaydev Unadkat and Aiden Markram in their fold.
What did the captains say?
After winning the toss, RR skipper Sanju Samson said:
“We would like to bowl first looking at the conditions and what Chepauk offers in the second half. We are trying our best to recover, the doctors are doing a great job. We are doing much better. We played 70% of our potential with batting and we managed to cross the line. We'd like to be better. Each and every venue, the dimensions change. We are well equipped to prepare accordingly. Same line-up.”
Meanwhile, SRH captain Pat Cummins after losing the toss said:
"That's fine, we would have bowled. The guys will be aggressive, it's not going to work everytime, we are going to lose wickets sometimes. We were well below our best a couple of days ago. Another chance tonight, much of the same. (Bowling) It's an ongoing discussion, this ground is a little bit bigger. We've got Unadkat coming back in the team as well. Aiden Markram comes in."

Pitch Report
"There's a nice wind coming across the ground. That has helped me keep a little cool because the humidity is quite severe. We are here on pitch number 7 - we haven't used it at all for this IPL 2024. 61 metres and 72 metres square boundaries - tactically, where the offspiner bowls and where the legspinner bowls come into play. Down the ground - 77 metres - a lot of muscle needed. It looks dark compared to some of the other pitches on the square. This surface is extremely hard. It's black clay, that means it'll hold together really well. Whatever moisture has been put into the surface, it's really going to mesh it all together. I expect a bit of bounce for the seamers, not a lot of turn for the spinners. The only defence for the spinners will be they've got that huge boundary to hit up against. In terms of runs, it's a 175-180 type wicket. We know what Sunrisers Hyderabad's blueprint is - it's to score massive. If you do win the toss, Sunrisers will have a bat, put a big load of pressure on the Royals and let's see how they go. The groundsman says there won't be any dew," Ian Bishop and Matthew Hayden analysed the pitch.
