Hardik Pandya's Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first against Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals in match 38 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, on April 22 (Monday). RR is currently on top of the points table and will be staying on the spot despite the result of the match. However, a win here for MI means a lot to get them closer to the top four. Mumbai make three big changes in their eleven. Meanwhile, the hosts just made one as Sandeep Sharma replaced Kuldeep Sen.
Head-to-Head
Both teams have faced each other 28 times. MI have won 15 of those clashes and RR have been victorious on 13 occasions. However, when it comes to clash at Jaipur, the Royals have defeated Mumbai five out seven times. MI last won a game at Jaipur back in 2012.
Captains at Toss
“We are gonna bat first, looks like a good wicket. It's a very surreal feeling to play the 100th game for the franchise, started my journey with MI, I'm very grateful. We got three changes - Nuwan, Wadhera and Piyush Chawla come in. Shepherd, Madhwal, and Shreyas Gopal go out,” said Pandya after winning the toss.
“We had a slightly different idea about the toss so it’s okay. You know the nature of the tournament, it’s a very long tournament, we had a five day break and we discussed about our plans, it’s about focusing about the system and the process. We have played lots of games here, we know how the wicket behaves. MI are known to come back hard in the tournament so we have to play well. We have had Sandeep Sharma back to our side and Kuldeep Sen misses out,” said Samson at the toss.
