Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians had a disappointing end to their campaign in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The five-time champions would finish at the bottom of the points table with only 8 points from 14 matches and their move to rope in Hardik ahead of the tournament did not seem to bear the fruits, they were hoping for. MI suffered an 18-run loss against Lucknow Super Giants in their final match at the Wankhede Stadium, on May 17 (Friday). After the match, MI owner Nita Ambani was seen having a conversation with their former skipper Rohit Shama.

Hardik Pandya addressed MI's disappointing campaign in IPL 2024
After the defeat against Lucknow, Hardik expressed his disappointment and said that Mumbai did not play good quality cricket which affected their run the whole season. He added that they failed to play good cricket as a group and now would be focusing on the next season.
“Quite difficult, this season we didn't play good quality cricket and it cost us the whole season. It's a professional world, sometimes there'll be good and sometimes bad days. As a group we didn't play quality and smart cricket and it showed in the results. Too early to exactly point out what went wrong tonight. We can pass on this game and look forward to the next season,” Hardik said in the post-match presentation.
