Mumbai Indians players arrived in Ahmedabad on March 21 (Thursday) ahead of their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 first match against the Gujarat Titans. The five-time champions Mumbai are scheduled to lock horns against Gujarat on March 24 (Sunday). Upon their departure from Mumbai, the Mumbai Indians players received a warm reception from local fans at the airport, and Rohit Sharma in particular, was showered with love by expectant fans.
In the video shared by the Mumbai Indians on their social media platforms, fans were heard chanting 'Rohit, Rohit' when the Hitman stepped out of the team bus.

Rohit looks to set records straight
During the team's training camp at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Rohit looked in scorching touch with the bat. The Hitman enters IPL 2024 with a ton of expectations not because he is no longer the captain of the Mumbai Indians but because of how he has faired in the previous few editions of the cash-rich tournament.
The elegant right-handed batter didn't have the best campaigns last season where he managed to score just 332 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 132.80 while he averaged 20.75 with the bat. Talking about the Hitman's last four seasons in the IPL, he has scored just six half-centuries, which by his lofty standards, is sort of unbelievable.
In IPL 2024, Rohit would look to remind fans of his mercurial talent and ability to win matches single-handedly.
Rohit Sharma to open alongside Ishan Kishan
The former Mumbai Indians captain is expected to open the innings alongside Ishan Kishan. The duo has been opening the innings for the franchise for some time now and with their explosiveness, the opposition bowlers are bound to have a tough time, especially if both fire in tandem.
