Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh went berserk in ongoing DY Patil T20 Cup. Playing for CAG, Prabhsimran smashed Income Tax bowlers all over the park to score 161 runs from just 55 deliveries. The 22-year-old wicketkeeper-batter smashed as many as 17 fours and nine sixes in his colossal knock.
Opening the innings for CAG, he carried the innings on his back scoring at a stupendous strike rate of 292.73. He got out in the 17th over otherwise he had the double century in sight as well. His knock helped CAG post a mammoth total of 267/6. CAG won the game by a massive margin of 105 runs.
The young Punjab batter carried forward his Ranji Trophy form. He had scored 537 runs from 10 innings at an average of 53.70 including a double century.
In the previous season, Prabhsimran was given just one opportunity by the Punjab-based franchise where he scored 14 runs from 11 deliveries. The hard-hitting batter has been underutilised by Kings.
He Prabhsimran was picked by Kings for Rs 60 lakh after a mini bidding war with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in mega auction. He was retained by the franchise after the season.
He created ripples in IPL auction 2019 when he was roped in by Kings for a whopping Rs 4.80 crore after an intense bidding war with Mumbai Indians (MI).
Prabhsimran has not got enough chance. Also, he is yet to produce an impactful knock. In four seasons, he has scored 64 runs from six innings at an average of 10.67 and an ordinary strike rate of 96.97.
However, he proved his mettle in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022. He finished the tournament as the third-highest scorer. He scored 320 runs from nine innings at an average of 53.33 including four half-centuries. He scored at an impressive strike rate of 141.59.
