Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) party workers have attacked and vandalised Delhi Capitals (DC) bus just 10 days before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 opener. MNS wanted the contract of transportation of players to local bus traders but the request was ignored.
President of MNS Vahatuk Sena, Sanjay Malik said, “MNS requested to employ locals as the IPL is taking in Maharashtra. But it was ignored. Hence, in MNS style teams have been warned.”
As a result, Malik, Prashant Gandhi and Santosh Jadhav and two other persons involved in the vandalisation of bus have been arrested by Colaba police station. They have been booked under sections 143,147, 149 and 427 of IPC.
The IPL 2022 league matches will take place at four venues as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wanted to restrict air travel of players to avoid players contracting Covid-19. The four venues are -- Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium - CCI, DY Patil Stadium, MCA Stadium in Pune.
All the 70 matches of the 10-team tournament will be played at these four venues and strict bio-bubble rules have been implemented for more than two months’ duration. Wankhede and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 matches each while the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai and MCA Stadium in Pune will play hosts to 15 games each.
Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals will begin their IPL 2022 campaign on March 27 against Rohit Sharma-led five-time winners Mumbai Indians at Brabourne stadium.
