Watch: Arjun Tendulkar takes his maiden IPL wicket in last over vs SRH

Legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun, picked up his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) wicket in his second appearance for Mumbai Indians (MI). Asked to bowl the final over by MI skipper Rohit Sharma against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Arjun got the wicket of SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar to help his side win the game by 14 runs.

The left-arm pacer bowled a fuller ball and Bhuvneshwar twisted his bat while taking the aerial route. Skipper Rohit took the catch and ran towards Arjun as he conceded just five runs in the final over. SRH got all out for 178 with one ball left in the innings.

“Obviously it was great getting my first IPL wicket. I just had to focus on what was in hand, the plan and executing it. Our plan was just to bowl wide and get the long boundary into play, make the batsman hit it to the longer side. I love bowling, I am happy to bowl anytime the captain asks me to and just stick to the team plan and give my best,” the 23-year-old told broadcaster Ravi Shastri after MI’s third win in a row.

Arjun also revealed that he discusses tactics with his father and backs himself to execute them in the middle.

“We (Sachin Tendulkar and him) talk about cricket, we discuss tactics before the game and he tells me to back what I practise every game. I just focused on my release, bowling good lengths and lines upfront. If it swings, it's a bonus, if it doesn't, so be it,” he added.

Arjun started off well with the new ball and conceded just five runs in the first over. He conceded a total of 14 runs in his first spell. In total, he conceded 18 runs from 2.5 overs he bowled.

In the previous game, Arjun conceded 17 runs on his debut against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
