Good news followed Delhi Capitals (DC) camp after they snapped their five-match losing streak in IPL 2023 as police have found their bats, gloves and other cricket equipment which was stolen couple of days back. Delhi skipper David Warner gave this update on social media after posting a picture of the now recovered bats, pads and gloves. However, Warner also said that a couple of items are still missing but he thanked the authorities for recovering the stolen items and arresting the culprits.
Warner posted an Instagram story on Friday (April 21) where the recovered bats can be seen in a pic that he shared. Warner wrote, “They found the culprits. Few missing still but thank you."
Going by the reports, the stolen items included 16 bats, pads, shoes, thigh-pads and gloves. Warner, Mitchell March, Phil Salt and Yash Dhull were among the players whose bats were stolen. Earlier, it was learnt that the theft took place during the transit when DC team was returning back to Delhi after their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Reportedly the bats which were stolen was worth of lakhs of rupees.
“All of them were shocked when they heard that everyone had lost something or the other from their kit bags. This is the first time such an incident has happened and the matter was soon raised to the logistics department, police and later at the airport. The investigation is on,” a source in DC had informed The Indian Express.
Meanwhile, DC finally came back to winning ways after five straight defeats in the ongoing IPL. Warner-led DC defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by four wickets on Thursday to open their winning account in the sixteenth edition of the cash-rich league. Riding on Warner's fifty, DC chased down the lowly 128-run target with four balls to spare.
