MS Dhoni, who retired as an international cricketer on August 15, 2020, won’t be bidding adieu to the IPL after the completion of the ongoing season, which ends on October 15.

There were speculations about Dhoni’s IPL future and whether 2021 IPL season would be his last ahead of the mega auctions for the next year’s tournament.

The former Indian captain during a virtual event for India Cements confirmed that he is looking forward to continuing playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Speaking at India Cements’ Platinum Jubilee Year, ‘Thala’ revealed that he wants to play his farewell match at Chepauk before taking the final bow.

“There couldn’t have been a better date (August 15, 2020) to announce your retirement. When it comes to my farewell match, you can always come and see me play for CSK and that can be my farewell game. So, you will still get the opportunity to bid me farewell. Hopefully, we will come to Chennai and play my last game over there and I can meet and entertain all the fans," Dhoni said.

CSK are already in the playoffs after being knockout out in the league stages in 2020. Dhoni said that the consistent success of the franchise is because the team has always focused on the process instead of the results.

Post the ongoing IPL season, Dhoni will don the hat of Indian team’s mentor for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in the UAE later this month. India will begin their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 24.
