Indian Premier League (IPL) debutant Abhinav Manohar scored 15 runs off 7 balls to earn a five-wicket victory for his side Gujarat Titans (GT) against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday (March 28). Following an impressive debut, Titans skipper Hardik Pandya later lavished huge praise on Manohar for releasing pressure off finisher Rahul Tewatia. According to Hardik, the 27-year-old cricketer “is someone to look at with the talent he has."
Hardik speaks
“Manohar is someone to look at with the talent he has. He is someone who you are going to hear about in the future. Rahul Tewatia was sensational as well," Hardik said at the post-match presentation.
Hardik started his IPL 2022 campaign on a winning note. He did not get a wicket but managed to bowl his full quota of four overs. With the bat at number four, he contributed with 33 runs off 28 balls to the run chase. While talking about his batting position, the Gujarat-born all-rounder revealed that he will continued to “bat at number four".
“Mostly I’ll bat at number four, because I want to take pressure with my experience so that the others can play freely. We want to win as a team and nobody can take the contribution away from anyway," Hardik explained.
On the other hand, Titans pacer Mohammed Shami exhibited his supreme bowling skills as he picked up three wickets with the new ball. While talking about Shami’s match-winning bowling display, Hardik said that the fast bowler got them “to a great start".
“This was the right game for us to be on either side and learn, but have learnt a lot by winning. Shami is known for his seam positions and he got us to a great start. We would have any day taken 160 on this wicket," Hardik said.
