'He is the player who gave me sleepless nights': Gautam Gambhir heaps praise on Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s performance as the leader of the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise has been nothing less than terrific.


Former Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir recently talked about Rohit Sharma and his style of captaincy. And according to Gambhir “Rohit Sharma is the only player” who gave him “sleepless nights.”

"As captain, Rohit Sharma is the only player who gave me sleepless nights. Neither Chris Gayle nor AB de Villiers nor anyone else, only Rohit Sharma. He is the player who gave me sleepless nights. There is no more successful cricketer in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) than Rohit Sharma as captain," Gambhir said during a discussion on Star Sports.


It is important to mention that Gambhir was previously roped in as mentor by the Lucknow Super Giants franchise for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.


On the other hand, after former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting’s stepped down from the position of captain of MI, Rohit was appointed as the skipper of the Mumbai-based franchise. And later, MI became the champions of IPL in 2013. They also won the now-defunct Champions League Twenty20 in that season.

Previously, Rohit was also a member of the 2009 IPL-winning side Deccan Chargers.

For Mumbai Indians, Rohit eventually won the prestigious IPL four more times- 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.


For the upcoming 15th edition of Indian Premier League 2020, Mumbai Indians frachise led by Rohit Sharma will have Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Lucknow Super Giants in Group A.


On the other hand, Group B is comprised of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrises Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans.


Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are two new entrants and with the addition of these two new teams, this season’s IPL will see 10 teams vying for the prestigious IPL trophy.


The final match of the IPL is slated to be played on May 29. With the addition of two new teams, this year’s IPL will have 10 teams vying for the prestigious trophy. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants are two entrants.
