Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s bowling has been a contentious point in Indian cricket in recent times. Pandya was roped in by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Gujarat Titans ahead of the mega IPL auction for Rs 15 Crore and later he was appointed the skipper of the Gujarat-based franchise as well. And now, the Indian all-rounder has talked about his bowling as he thinks his bowling “would be a surprise” in the upcoming edition of IPL 2022.
"Sir, it would be a surprise, so let it be a surprise," the 28-year-old said on the sidelines of his side's jersey launch at the home ground Narendra Modi Stadium.
"Success is theirs, failure is mine. Our role will be to make sure the players are comfortable in whatever capacity we can help them out. Clarity, honesty has to be there.
"In good times they don't need any of us. But the season will test you, there will be difficult times and that's when we will be there to support them," Pandya explained.
Apart from Pandya, the Gujarat Titans franchise had signed Indian batter Shubman Gill and Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan ahead of the mega IPL auction.
While talking about the atmosphere in the team, the Gujarat Titans skipper said that they want to “create a culture where all the players feel at home.”
"We want to create a culture where all the players feel at home, we want to give them a sense of security then only we can get the best out of them. We want to make them feel like they belong here. It's about creating a new culture."
Former Indian bowler Ashish Nehra will be seen as the head coach of Gujarat Titans franchise in the 15th edition of IPL and Pandya feels that Nehra is “the funniest guy one can come across.”
“He's the funniest guy one can come across. He will never give you the coach vibe. It was very clear with Nehraji that let all the players decide what they want to do and give them freedom. You make mistakes but eventually you learn. I'm very excited to spend time with him.”
