A car travelling with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team bus on its way from Mumbai to Pune met with a major accident right ahead of their clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Friday (April 29). The car was following the team bus and the team CEO Raghu Iyer and Gautam Gambhir’s personal secretary Gaurav Arora, including one more, have been injured in the accident, but are now safe, as per Sports Tak.
As per a statement from the franchise, the accident was 'minor' and all three members of the LSG contingent are now doing well.
"Lucknow Super Giants’ CEO Raghu Iyer, his associate Rachita Berry and Gaurav Arora, Manager for Gautam Gambhir were involved in a minor road accident en route to the venue for tonight's game. Fortunately, all three are safe and well," read the statement.
LSG are the one of the two new entrants in the IPL 2022 as they are raring to face Mayank Agarwal-led PBKS at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
Placed fourth in the IPL points table, Lucknow played their last match against five-times title-holders Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on April 24 which they won by 36 runs riding on skipper Rahul's blistering knock.
LSG, owned by RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, are in the reckoning to reach the play-offs at IPL 2022. The KL Rahul-led team began their season with a defeat to fellow newbies Gujarat Titans but they stitched a 3-match winning run after shaking off the season-opening loss.
Ever since, Lucknow has struggled to be consistent. They lost to Rajasthan Royals on April 10 but managed to beat Mumbai Indians in their following game. Lucknow lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore then but defeated Mumbai in their 2nd meeting with th 5-time champions at the Wankhede Stadium.
Regardless of their inconsistency, Rahul has been in form with the bat. The Lucknow captain, who will take on his former franchise PBKS on Friday, has scored 368 runs in 8 matches with two hundreds.
