IPL 2022: DC's Kuldeep Yadav dismisses MI skipper Rohit Sharma to end a drought of 3 years and 37 overs

Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Kuldeep Yadav on March 27 (Sunday) picked up the wicket of Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma to end a drought of three years.

Notably, since the start of the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kuldeep Yadav could not claim a wicket in the middle overs (7th over to 15th over). He had bowled 37 overs without picking up a wicket and while bowling his 38th over he claimed the wicket of MI skipper Rohit.


Terrific bowling

In the game, Kuldeep broke the 67-run partnership between Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. The 27-year-old spinner picked up his second wicket of the match after he dismissed Mumbai Indians batter Anmolpreet Singh (8 runs off 9 balls) in the 11th over of the match. In the 16th over of the match, Kuldeep claimed his third wicket of the match after he dismissed Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard (3 runs off 6 balls).


In the match against Mumbai Indians, the Delhi Capitals spinner picked up three wickets, conceding 18 runs in 4 overs.


Earlier, winning the toss, the Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant had decided to bowl first.


Kuldeep at mega auction

The Uttar Pradesh-born spinner was roped in by Delhi Capitals for an amount of Rs 2 Crore, at the mega auction for IPL 2022.


Previously, MI managed to win 16 out of the 30 matches played against Delhi Capitals while the Capitals have won the other 14 matches.


In the 15th season of IPL, Mumbai Indians franchise led by Rohit Sharma will have Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Lucknow Super Giants in Group A of the 2022 edition of IPL.


On the other hand, Group B is comprised of defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrises Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans.
