Delhi Capitals (DC) were back to their best when they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 17 runs during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, May 16. Leading the charge with the bat was Mitchell Marsh, who scored 63 runs in 48 balls, striking at a rate of 131.25. It was a crucial match for both sides, with the winner moving above Royal Challengers Bangalore to fourth place and the loser getting eliminated from the playoff race.
But the real onus of the victory fell on the bowlers, who had to defend a total of 159 in order to ensure that their team went home fourth on the IPL points table. Their best bowler on the night was Shardul Thakur, whose 4/36 is the best bowling figure for him this season. He was ably supported by both Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, who picked up two wickets each as the PBKS batters were restricted to only 142 in their stipulated 20 overs.
