IPL 2022 Points Table: Mumbai rooted to bottom despite wins, GT losing ground after two straight losses

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season is slowly entering the business end of the competition, with eight teams still on the lookout for a spot in the playoffs. In a battle between the bottom-placed Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Gujarat Titans (GT), the five-time champions prevailed after defending nine runs in the last over against the likes of Rahul Tewatia, David Miller, and Rashid Khan. 

 

The win for MI will be a confidence boost for a team who are out of the run for the playoffs but will be looking to move off the foot of the table after securing their second straight win of the season. Meanwhile, it was a disappointing loss for Gujarat, who are currently at the top of the points table and need a win to qualify for the playoffs. However, with two defeats in as many matches, the onus will be on the new entrants to turn their form around.
