Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has been a revelation for the side this season, having led the team in terms of wickets from the very start. And now the star Sri Lankan all-rounder has overtaken Yuzvendra Chahal at the top of the Purple Cap standings after picking up two wickets against Punjab Kings (PBKS) although his efforts ended up on a losing cause.
Hasaranga notched figures of 2/15 in his stipulated four overs, with a brilliant economy rate of 3.75. His lowly economy rate has fared well for him in the Purple Cap standings, pushing him above Chahal although both of them have the same number of wickets. However, the Sri Lankan has played a game more than the Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner.
Meanwhile, pacers Harshal Patel and Kagiso Rabada have moved above Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Kuldeep Yadav down to the fifth spot. Kuldeep occupied the second place for most of the season but his drop in form was capitalised by Harshal, who scalped four wickets on Friday to move to the fourth sport and Rabada, who bagged three wickets for PBKS.
