In a bid to win their maiden title, the revamped Delhi Capitals (DC) under Rishabh Pant's captaincy will open their IPL 2022 campaign against the mighty Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 27. DC will also have a chance to take revenge of 2020 final where they lost to MI by five wickets. The return of star Australian batter David Warner have beefed up DC's batting line up after the departure of former captain Shreyas Iyer who will now be seen leading the pack of Kolkata Knight Riders in the upcoming season. Till date the Pant-led side has managed to get through the play-offs four times but miserably failed to make it big in every occasion.
A total of 70 league matches will be played from March 26 to May 22. The playoffs dates have not been finalised yet but the final will be played on May 29. The matches will be held across four venues in Maharashtra. Wankhede and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 matches each while the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai and MCA Stadium in Pune will play hosts to 15 games each.
