IPL 2022: RR climb to top of points table, here are IPL standings and team rankings

Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured a convincing 61-run victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 29 (Tuesday) and with this win the Sanju Samson-led side claimed the top spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) points table with a solid Net Run Rate (NRR) of +3.050.

Delhi Capitals (DC), Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hold the remaining spots in the top-four of IPL points table respectively. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had to suffer a six-wicket defeat in the season opener against KKR. The Ravindra Jadeja-led side are currently at seventh position (NRR -0.639).

 

On the other hand, the Kane Williamson-led SRH side (NRR -3.050) currently occupy the bottom-most place in the IPL standings.

 

On Tuesday, Samson scored 55 runs off 27 balls against SRH and with this win he entered the top-five in the list of highest run-scorers. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Faf du Plessis currently holds the top spot after his brilliant innings of 88 against PBKS.

 

On the other hand, in the Purple Cap list, RR spinner Yuzvendra Chahal claimed third spot after he picked up three wickets conceding 22 runs against SRH.

 

DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav presently sits at the top of the table after he bagged three wickets against Mumbai Indians (MI) conceding 18 runs. The second spot is presently claimed by CSK all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.

Match details

In the match, RR registered a huge total of 210/6 in 20 overs, against SRH. Samson showed terrific batting skills as he scored 55 runs off 27 balls. His innings was comprised of 3 boundaries and 5 sixes. Later, Devdutt Padikkal (41 runs off 29 balls) and Shimron Hetmyer (32 runs off 13 balls) helped their side in reaching a mammoth total.

 

In response, the Hyderabad-based franchise could not start the run chase convincingly as they lost their first three wickets within just first five overs. Later, Aiden Markram (57 not out off 41 balls) and Washington Sundar (40 runs off 14 balls) tried to put up some fight but eventually their resistance turned out to be futile as the Kane Williamson-led side could manage to reach a total of 149/7 in 20 overs.
