Punjab Kings (PBKS) opening batter Shikhar Dhawan is just seven boundaries away from completing 1000 boundaries in T20 cricket. In the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Dhawan has most number of boundaries (660) as well. PBKS will take on defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL on April 3.

An elite list

The Delhi-born batter is presently fifth on the list of batsmen with most number of boundaries in T20 cricket. The list is comprised of players like Chris Gayle (1132), Alex hales (1054), David Warner (1005), Aaron Finch (998).

Dhawan is also set to become the first Indian player and fourth player in the world to smash 1000 boundaries. Notably, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is the second Indian cricketer in the list with 917 boundaries in his kitty.

On the other hand, Dhawan will need 41 runs more to score to overcome Kohli for most runs against CSK. Former RCB skipper Kohli is currently the highest run-scorer (948 runs) against CSK.

Dhawan was released by the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise ahead of the mega auction for IPL 2022. The 36-year-old batsman was roped in by PBKS for an amount of Rs 8.25 crore. The Mayank Agarwal-led side are currently at seventh position in the IPL standings.
